It was one chilly morning when u could feel the cold wind hitting your bones. My friends and I were standing at the bus-stop waiting for our college bus when there came a young lady who was in rags and not more than 25 years.
The lady begged for the money which all of us curtly refused to give. (since we all agreed that she was strong enough to work and earn her livelihood.) she wouldn’t budge and was getting on our nerves and so we retorted
“You look healthy and strong enough. Can’t you earn your own livelihood?”
to which she replied
“where do I get a work?”
“Go to any construction site and work. There are many buildings coming up-those people need workers”
“that money is not enough to make my both ends meet”
“well then you have to work harder”
“that’s what I’m doing. Earning my livelihood by begging. That’s my profession.”
Then with a frown asked us
“ now are you giving me money or not?”(Not begging rather demanding money.. look at the attitude..)
for which we replied.” Why should we give you the money?”
“that’s because giving money to the beggars is your dharma. Its written in the ethics.
Now don’t waste my time by asking questions and give me the money.”
Meanwhile our bus had come and without giving her anything we left. I think she felt kind of insulted and so recited a latest movie’s dialogue loudly, “ ladies and gentlemen, these young college girls have promised to give me 5 bucks daily.”
well ....what more has to be said of the beggars of today!!

yet another sunday experience...
It was another lazy Sunday evening –I had been lazing at home the whole day. Not able to bear seeing me waste time in such a fashion, my mom, literally threw me out of home-asking me to have a small walk-feel the fresh air (aah!! fresh air indeed in one of the busiest areas of the city).
Without further argument, I sported my favorite jeans and out I went with a few bucks in my pocket. I walked down the main road where my eyes fell on an ice-cream parlour that was not there a few days ago. It was a cozy little shop with soft light and posters of various kinds of ice cream. The light made the ice cream look more appetizing and more tempting. YUMMY!! I couldn’t resist anymore and went in directly without any hesitation and ordered what they called as royal delight-caramel nut flavor, which according to the picture should have been something like this: a long glass that was filled with 3 full scoops of ice cream and on which honey was put.
After full five minutes, the waiter came with a small cup that had only one scoop of ice cream and no honey!! And placed it in front of me. On asking, he told me that it was royal delight-caramel nut flavor!! Aaargh!! This chap cheated me!!-They lured me into their shop with those delicious, scrumptious, mouth-watering images of ice cream and then served me this!!! With a lot of effort I tried not to show my disappointment ate the ice cream quietly and left. I resolved that I would never ever set my foot in that parlor.
But even today when I pass the parlor I just can’t resist the ice cream and order for a royal delight-caramel nut!!

A sunday to remember
It was a Sunday 4 which I had been waiting since the Monday last. I had meticulously planned how to enjoy my Sunday-without books and assignments. But my high spirits were dampened by a single call-I was asked rather ordered to attend a family function. I usually detest these functions as it consists of all the old people who are far more older to me and the kids who have a long way to go to become teenagers. So you can understand how out of place I would feel at. Still with a heavy heart I followed the order.
I was sitting on the portico doing nothing and staring. A bevy of old ladies were discussing something of which I could make out neither the head nor the tail. And then out of nowhere came out a cockroach followed by another and then another and so in a minutes time there came at least half a dozen of them swarming around as if they don’t give a damn to the world. Since I was a child, the roaches for some mysterious reasons have fascinated me. So I was keenly observing them, marveling their beauty, their way of crawling when I heard someone screaming followed by more screams –this sounded like some women’s voice so I took the trouble of looking and I saw a cockroach on the shirt of a ten year old who was completely terrified. This was the same fellow who was bragging about some of the heroic deeds (which he had never done) he had accomplished.
I could no longer stand their shouts and their stupidity- such huge human beings scared out of wits looking at the harmless cockroaches! And shrugged the roach off the shirt and explained him that there was nothing to be afraid of and the roaches are harmless creatures. The cockroach landed on its feet and was about to run to its hideaway when the same kid started hitting it with the stick and trying to smash it. Other kids started following the same suit-they were inspired by the courage of our hero!! Some naughty boys even went to the extent of catching them by their feelers and dropping at their old grannies and their girlie sisters!! There was a complete chaos at the place. People shouting at the kids –roaches scrambling hither thither as if their peace was intruded –everywhere u could find them it seemed as if there were millions of them there.
Peace had to be restored else I overheard someone saying that all the grannies and the grandpas present there would suffer a heart stroke or a rise in the blood pressure. And then someone with the common sense sent away the kids to some other place and cooled down the excited old people. Surprisingly, the number of cockroaches receded and in a few minutes time there was not even a single roach.
Thinking about the incident later that day, I had a thought that if the children had left the roaches to themselves probably we wouldn’t have had all those anxious moments –viewing it at a larger scale –this is the mistake the man does- shows off his power and this show off of his power leads to troubles- this is the root cause to all the pains and miseries. What say????
